Now don’t get me wrong. I love animals. I have two dogs of my own. You are going to see some crazy shit. I have a pet own owner that had a dog as big as a small horse. Then there is the pet owner that has like 12 dogs. I have seen all kinds of pets, to include ducks. Those aren’t really big issues. The real issues are the smells and the feces. You will meet homeowners that let their pets pee and poop in the house.
You also have the pet owner that doesn’t clean the dog’s poop in the back yard. Therefore, you have no place to step without stepping in dog poop. Just wait until you try to build a fence in a back yard with years of accumulated dog poop. Yeah, good luck with that!
We did a floor job one time and some drywall repairs. Apparently, the guys left a small drop of drywall mud on the new floor and missed it during their clean up. I get a phone call from the customer to come out and look at the mess. The customer is pissed off and points out the drywall mud about the size of quarter on her new floors. So, I reach down with a wet wipe and clean it up and I tell her, there you go. All better? However, I am not picking up the cat shit that’s right next to it. I am pretty sure that my guys are not responsible for that. True story!
You will see homes with many animals. Not just dogs, and cats. You will see feces, hair, urine, and the smell! However, I think I feel more pity for the poor animals. They deserve so much more. In my opinion of course.
You don't have to take these jobs. You do need to be sensitive and delicate with the customer. You don't want to hurt their feelings. It's a really delicate situation. The problem with these situations is that you don't see it coming. Once you step foot into the customers house, there is no turning back. Sure you could take one look at the place and say excuse me and quickly exit and leave but they can take to social media and hurt your credibility. It sucks. You don't want to be in these situations but you can't do much about them either.
